Nils Fischers eerste soloalbum is een feit. De hommage aan het legendarische “Joe Cuba Sextet” is uit op het label Walboomers Latina. De percussionist van onder andere de Cubop City Big Band, Nueva Manteca en Fabian Nodarse heeft de afgelopen jaren gewerkt aan zijn eerst album waarop ook Brian Lynch, Pepe Espinosa, Alain Perez, Lucas van Merwijk, Marc Bischoff, Gerardo Rosales en Jan Laurens Hartong te horen zijn.

In Slagwerkkrant 141, die uitkomt op 24 augustus, vind je op pagina 11 een interview met Nils.
Tijdens zijn langdurige samenwerking met internationaal befaamde bands zoals Nueva Manteca and the Cubop City Big Band had de bekende percussionist Nils Fischer de eer om met en aantal beroemde Latin-artiesten op te treden, waaronder Pio Leiva, Armando Peraza, Paquito D'Rivera, Giovanni Hidalgo, Chocolate Armenteros, Michel Camilo en Orestes Vilató.
Voor zijn eerste cd als bandleider, '¡Gracias Joe Cuba!', heeft Fischer een internationale all-star gezelschap verzameld: Trompettist Brian Lynch (Grammy winnaar 2007), Issac Delgado's bassist Alain Pérez en Cuba's timbales genie Pepe Espinosa. De Nederlandse Latin-top is op het album sterk verwoordigd met o.a. Slagwerkwereld.com-endorser Lucas van Merwijk, Leslie Lopez en Gerardo Rosales.
Nils Fischer heeft de typische Joe Cuba vibrafoonsound sound versterkt met een zeskoppige blazersectie en drie fantastische zangers: Alberto Caicedo, Nando Vanin en Fabian Nodarse. De meeslepende arrangementen werden gemaakt door Alain Pérez, Nederlands top Latinarrangeur Marc Bischoff en door Nueva Manteca's Jan Laurens Hartong. De cd werd gemixt door de legendarische en veelvoudige Grammy - winnaar Jon Fausty (USA).
