Gene Hoglan geeft update
Drummer bezig met nieuwe opnames

Drummer Gene Hoglan, bekend van onder andere Dark Angel, Death en Strapping Young Lad, rondt vandaag de opnames af van het debuutalbum voor Absentee, het project van voormalig Mushroomhead-frontman J. Mann (ook bekend als Jason Popson). Hoglan heeft afgelopen week doorgebracht in de Mars Recording studio's in Cleveland, Ohio om alle drumpartijen in te spelen.
"I'm using this as an opportunity to work with all the players I've been dying to work with, so I'm sure it will be a slow and arduous project, but well worth it."
Overigens is Absentee een ander project dan de gelijknamige band uit Londen, met Jon Chandler op drums.
Ander nieuws rondom Gene Hoglan: de drummer gaat ook meespelen op "DethAlbum", het debuutalbum van Dethklok, de fictieve band uit de tekenfilmserie Metalocalypse. Naar verwachting verschijnt het album in de zomer van 2007. De opnames vinden plaats in de Bomb Shelter Studio's in Los Angeles onder leiding van producer Ulrich Wild. Hoglan verklaart:
"All the tunes you've heard from Season 1 will be represented, as well as a ton from Season 2. All of which will be getting released on the DethKlok soundtrack album in summer. Let me tell ya, this is no mere 'cartoon metal' project, either. Of course it'll have its humor (man, what album have I recorded lately hasn't?), but Brendon, being a Berklee School of Music graduate, as well as a major metal fan (those of you who have seen the show know what I'm talking about), is pumpin' out some freakishly heavy tunes, and I don't think there will be any disappointed metal fans who listen to this. But then again, what do I know? I can't account for most people's taste these days..."
