Alex Carapetis nieuwe Nine Inch Nails-drummer

Na twee shows op een rij met drummer Josh Freese, heeft Nine Inch Nails Alex Carapetis (foto)ingehuurd als sessiedrummer voor de rest van de tour. Carapetis maakte zijn podiumdebuut afgelopen vrijdag, 7 oktober, in Chicago.
"Josh Freese helped us out by playing the Salt Lake City and Denver shows as a substitute, while Alex Carapetis took over tonight in Chicago. We played the set with Alex for the first time at midnight the night before... not exactly how I like to do things but the only other alternative was to cancel more shows and I am not going to do that. I can't begin to tell you what a difficult job it is to replace your drummer in this band, and these guys have truly risen to the high-pressure situation that it is."
Nieuwe drummer Alex Carapetis is geboren en getogen in Adelaide, Australi�. In februari 2005 vertrok de drummer naar de Verenigde Staten waar hij sindsdien als sessiedrummer heeft gewerkt. Carapetis speelde onlangs een demo voor Lenny Kravitz in en nam drumpartijen op voor de soundtracks van de film The Wedding Crashers.
Zoals Slagwerkwereld al eerder bekend maakte, werd de vaste drummer van Nine Inch Nails, Jerome Dillon, gedwongen om de tour af te breken wegens een pas ontdekte hartaandoening.
De drummer gaf de schuld aan "oververmoeidheid en uitputting" in een verklaring op zijn eigen message board. Dillon schreef:
"The decision was made to hire replacement drummers (for this leg) to allow me enough time to adjust to medication and to also spend time pursuing my true passion...gardening."
