The Distillers drummer Andy Granelli has quit the group to focus on his other band Darker My Love. According to contactmusic.com Granelli is insisting he's still great pals with his former bandmates.

Granelli provided the rhythm for the punk band's critically acclaimed breakthrough album "Coral Fang". The release was nominated for a Kerrang! Award in 2004.

Granelli, who joined the band after the departure of original drummer Mat Young, had previously hit the skins for The Nerve Agents.

Granelli agonised over his decision, but ultimately decided his heart was no longer in the group:
"I will miss everyone very much, this has been very hard for me, and I am going to miss Brody [Dalle], Tony [Bradley] and Ryan [Sinn] very much."

No replacement has been named yet.
