Neil Peart komt met nieuwe DVD en nieuw boek

Rush-drummer Neil Peart is momenteel een nieuwe instructie-DVD aan het opnemen, dit keer met de nadruk op het spelen van drumsolo's. De werktitel is "Anatomy of a Drum Solo."
"It will be based around an intricately-filmed solo from R30, plus the Grammy-losing “O Baterista!” from Rush in Rio, and will include a wide variety of other “ghosts of solos past.” All that, and me talking about it all. (Maybe that’s a better title, 'Ellwood Explains It All.')"
Andere nieuws rondom de drummer: Op 1 juli 2005 rondde Peart de eerste versie van zijn nieuwe boek af. Het gaat over de R30 tour in 2004, met de allesverklarende titel: "Roadshow: Landscape With Drums, A Concert Tour By Motorcycle."
Het boek is geconstrueerd rondom de 57 shows die Rush deed tijdens die tour door de VS, Canada en Europa, plus de bijna 33 duizend kilometer die Peart op zijn motor aflegde tussen de shows door. Peart verklaart:
"’ll say no more about it yet, but judging by my past books, which have taken about 14 months to complete, I’ve got another six or eight months of work to do yet. The “memory work” was the most urgent thing, as I felt kind of pressured to get the first draft down — didn’t want to forget anything — and now begins the difficult, but pleasurable, process of making it all “nice.”
Beide projecten staan gepland voor een release in december 2005 of januari 2006.
