Callenish Circle stopt na vijftien jaar

Na vijftien jaar zetten de Nederlandse metalheads van Callenish Circle een punt achter hun carrière. De band, met Gavin Harte op drums, heeft een uitgebreide afscheidsverklaring op zijn website gezet.
"This wasn't the easiest decision to make, but in the end, we all agree that Callenish Circle has now run its course. We've accomplished everything that we set out to do and even more but now the time has come to move on. We're all very proud of our latest album, '[Pitch.Black.Effects]', and feel that now is a good time to call it a day."
Naar eigen zeggen werd het steeds moeilijker de inspiratie te vinden die nodig was om Callenish Circle op gang te houden:
"We always aimed to deliver the goods with the highest quality possible and we simply do not want to continue a band that can't give the essential blood, sweat and tears anymore. We prefer to burn out on a high note now, rather than just slowly fade into obscurity. Some bands linger on for years past their expiration date but Callenish Circle will definitely not become one of those bands."
In zijn vijftienjarig bestaan heeft Callenish Circle zijn stempel gedrukt op de wereldwijde metalscene: de groep bracht vijf albums uit, waarvan de laatste drie wereldwijd werden uitgebracht door het bekende label Metal Blade Records. Callenish Circle gaf meer dan tweehonderd live optredens, met de tour door Mexico in 2006 als één van de hoogtepunten.
De afscheidshow van de formatie staat gepland voor zaterdag 10 maart in De Azijnfabriek te Roermond. De collegathrashers van Engine Of Pain, met Joep Beckers op drums, presenteren die avond hun debuutalbum "I Am Your Enemy". Openingsacts is State:Chaos, de nieuwe groep van voormalig Callenish Circle-bassist Rocco, met Martijn Sijmons achter de ketels.
