Stuart Cable "very upset" over ontslag

Het telefoontje van zanger en (voormalig?) beste vriend Kelly Jones met de noodlottige mededeling, kwam als een donderslag bij heldere hemel. Stuart is niet van plan het er bij te laten zitten. Hij onderneemt juridische acties tegen zijn ontslag.

Cable geeft een reactie in een statement voor het Britse magazine New Musical Express:

"As has been published, I underwent a minor operation whilst in the US and was unable to play two of the gigs.
My doctor subsequently told me I was able to continue the US tour. However, Kelly and Richard suggested I return to the UK to recuperate for the forthcoming UK and European tours.

Last Monday evening, Richard and Kelly telephoned me from the US and I was stunned to be told that they had decided to sack me.

I still want to continue to be a part of the Stereophonics and play on the band's forthcoming UK and European tours.

I am, and have always been, a fully committed member of the Stereophonics and am very upset that Kelly seems to be saying that I was not committed to the band."

Volgens Kelly Jones hoort de drummer niet langer bij de band omdat hij zijn afspraken niet nakomt. Volgens Jones spelen de problemen sinds de release van het derde album van de band, 'Just Enough Education to Perform', in 1991.

De twee overgebleven Stereophonics gaven te kennen gewoon door te gaan zonder Cable, met voorlopig voormalig Black Crowes-drummer Steve Gorman op de drumkruk.
