Drummer Ryan Vikedal has left the band Nickelback after nine years of service.

The departure of Vikedal, who's been with the band since its debut album in 1996, was announced in a short statement issued by the group's record label EMI. The note states:
"At this time, no replacement for Vikedal has been named and the band wishes Ryan all the best in his future endeavours."

Fronted by Chad Kroeger, Nickelback is currently working on new material in their homebase of Vancouver.

Nickelback formed in Hanna, Alta. They achieved international stardom with songs like 'How You Remind Me' and 'Too Bad'.

The band is up for a Grammy Award in February 2005 in the best hard rock performance category for the track 'Feelin' Way Too Damn Good' from 2004's album "The Long Road".
