Voormalig drummer Oasis verliest opnieuw voor de rechter

Hij claimt dat de advocaten van Oasis nalatig zijn geweest bij zijn vertrek uit de band. Al eerder, in november 2002 oordeelde een rechter dat McCarroll te lang had gewacht met zijn claim.

McCarroll richtte met schoolmaatjes Liam Gallagher, Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs en Paul McGuigan de band Oasis op, voordat Liams broer Noel zich bij de band voegde. McCarroll is te horen op Oasis' debuutalbum "Definitely Maybe" (1994, Epic Records). Hij vertrok echter in 1995 voor de opnames van het enorme hitalbum "(What's the Story) Morning Glory?".

Volgens Reuters/VNU (01-04-03) zei de rechter:

"The essence of the claim is that, whether, by his acts or omissions or both, Mr. Statham of the defendant firm brought about a conflict of interest between the various members of the band, because the Sony agreement wrongly favored Noel and Liam Gallagher over the other members of the band.

[However, McCarroll] failed to point out that the effect of the Sony agreement was that the name Oasis was owned by the Gallagher brothers and left him vulnerable to instant dismissal without compensation."

Dikke pech dus voor Anthony McCarroll. Nu duidelijk is dat verdere rechtzaken weinig zin hebben, heeft hij in ieder geval weer tijd genoeg op te drummen. Dat is altijd leuker dan voor de rechter verschijnen.
